The Youth Leadership Lawrence Program is sponsored and administered by the Lawrence County Chamber of Commerce. This program is a great service to our community and an investment in the future of our county.
As a member of the Youth Leadership Lawrence Program, students will experience several day trips or sessions away from their school campus that will expose them to various industries and aspects of business in Lawrence County where leadership skills are demonstrated, including health, education, tourism, wholesale industry, agriculture and much more. The vision for the program is that at the end of the experience, our students are enlightened about opportunities to live and work in their home county, and are better equipped to begin their journey to become an effective leader as they continue their education and develop their career.
Each year the class student body is chosen after a very competitive process that includes submitting an application, an essay, signed recommendations, and by participating in an interview with the program directors. Also, during the year of participation, the students are required to perform a community service project in conjunction with other community leaders. Every applicant is examined carefully, and a number of factors go into the selection, including class year and having balanced representation from both gender, and all public and private schools in the county.
New sponsorship is always welcomed and needed to continue to grow and develop this program. The Youth Leadership Lawrence Program is funded through the generosity of members of the Lawrence County Chamber of Commerce. We believe in the investment in our students - our future!
